Loudoun County, Virginia - The Loudoun Sheriff's Office announced the
date for their 25th Women's Self-Defense Workshop to be held Tuesday August 15, 2006.
The class is open to all female residents of Loudoun County over the
age of thirteen. Participants will be taught basic self-defense
techniques through instruction, demonstration and actual practice of the
methods taught.
"The workshop is a free session whose purpose is to educate women on
sexual assault issues and rape awareness", said Sheriff Steve Simpson.
The Loudoun County Victim Witness Program will have staff present at
the workshop to provide information regarding available services for
women who are victims of violence.
The session will be held from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. It will be held at
the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy on Tuesday August 15,
2006. The academy is located at 45299 Research Place in Ashburn, VA.
Participants are asked to wear gym-style clothing and athletic shoes.
